Darling Square Library

Spend some quality bonding time with your little one at Sydney’s newest library located in the heart of Darling Square. It is set to open on Monday 28 October 2019 taking two floors of The Exchange building and overlooks a public plaza.

Rhymetime @ Darling Square Library
Wednesdays, 10.30am to 11am

Rhymetime is a lapsit program for babies that combines rhymes, music, singing and puppets. The sessions aim to develop early literacy skills. For 0 to 2 year olds.
Arrive early to ensure your place. Parents or caregivers must accompany children for the duration of the session.

Note: No sessions on NSW school or public holidays.

 

Story-time @ Darling Square Library
Wednesdays, 11.30am to 12.15pm

Story-time is a fun session of storytelling and craft for pre-schoolers. The session fosters an early love of reading and social interaction in readiness for school.
Suitable for 3 to 5 year olds. Bookings are not required but session numbers are limited so please ensure you arrive early to secure your place.

Parents or caregivers must accompany children for the duration of the session.

Note: There are no sessions during NSW school or public holidays.

 

Rhymetime in Mandarin @ Darling Square Library
Fridays, 10.30am to 11am

An animated sing-a-long session for babies and toddlers. Songs and rhymes are sung in Mandarin to support literacy development, nurture Mandarin knowledge and provide a wonderful cultural exchange. For 0 to 2 year olds. Bookings are not required, but session numbers are limited so be sure to arrive early to secure your place.

 

Bilingual storytime @ Darling Square Library
Fridays, 11.30am to 12.15pm

A fun session of storytelling, rhymes, music, singing and craft activities for preschoolers. Stories are read aloud in both English and Mandarin to support literacy development, nurture Mandarin knowledge and provide a wonderful cultural exchange.

Suitable for 3 to 5 year olds. Bookings are not required, but session numbers are limited. Please arrive early to ensure your place.

ABOUT THE BUILDING:

Libraries

The spiral-like building wrapped in timber ribbons is designed by Japanese Architects. Using over 23 kilometres of sustainably sourced timber panels curve around the outside of the circular building. With a likeness to a birds nest, the handcrafted panels also filter natural light into the building.
