Life with kids in Sydney City
On recommendation from some Botany locals with kids, we visited the Waterworks Hotel for a trad-style lunch that had the kids entertained for ages.
Located in the heart of Botany, the Waterworks Hotel features a bistro out the back with plenty of indoor and outdoor dining space. It also includes a Kids Dining section with a large chalkboard wall, pool table and TV's playing music clips. Ask at the bar for a bucket of pencils and colouring-in paper. Kid meals are $10 with ice cream. Kids meals include burgers, fish and chips, pasta and steak.
Having been out in about in the area on a cold winters day, the husband and I were keen for a good old traditional pub steak to warm us. We need look no further than the Waterworks Hotel. Highly recommended as a good place for the kids to be entertained and fed, while the adults relax.
The bistro area was full of families which was a good sign. The kids made a beeline for the chalkboard and let their creativity run wild. They were soon joined by several other kids and made lots of friends. They also attempted a game of pool that was pretty hilarious.
For a bit of quiet time, pencils and colouring in could be grabbed from the bar.
The food came out really quickly. The portions were perfect. Not too large, not too stingy. Both kids loved the mash potato and vegies. Us adults enjoyed our steaks. No complaints. Just good pub grub.
Bulla ice cream with your choice of toppings was also included in the kids meals. Happy campers at the end.
