Life with kids in Sydney City
The Lakes Hotel is a perfect venue for dinner and drinks and it's great for families. Their Bistro and bar have been beautifully decorated and they have a huge courtyard. ;
The Lakes Hotel is another great Rosebery local and we feel really comfortable going there for dinner with an energetic toddler. The Bistro is very spacious and there are 2 outdoor areas. There is a large enclosed courtyard at the back, with comfy couches and umbrellas for shade. It's a great area for a group or for your kids to run around. They are adding a deck area at the back so some of the courtyard is closed off at the moment. There is a smaller enclosed area at the front where we sometimes bring the ball in for a play when its not busy.
We first went there on a sweltering hot day to escape our unairconditioned house. We probably over stayed our welcome as Mr 1 was so happy investigating the place inside and out. It wasn't very busy that day so he took over the joint. We had a gorgeous dinner and a few drinks, thankful of the break from the heat and from entertaining our toddler. ;
They have a large menu and a daily specials menu. I've had their Laksa ($14) and the Ricotta and Mushroom Stuffed Chicken Breast ($19) both gorgeous and very filling. My hubby loves their Beef Burger ($14) and Surf Chicken Schnitzel ($20). Their kids meals are $8 including ice cream (kids under 12). We haven't tried the kids meals as Mr1 is still fussy and sharing ours/throwing it on the floor.
They have a great baby changing toilet and plenty of highchairs. I love that they have renovated the place with everyone in mind making it very comfortable for families.
We have always found parking easily on Macquarie St when we've driven there.
