Life with kids in Sydney City
Sappho Books & Cafe is a general secondhand bookshop and at the rear of the shop is Sappho Cafe, Wine & Tapas bar.
A wonderful spot in Glebe with baristas who specialise in beautifully decorated babychinos including a bear pattern for children's hot chocolates that is a winner.
Sappho Books & Cafe extends out into a gorgeous courtyard at the rear of the rambling building (circa 1880s) and is home to a generation of graffiti – a legacy of its former life as a youth centre. It's a little oasis and a welcome break away from the hustle and bustle. It has a really relaxed vibe and people pick up books in the shop to read while having a coffee.
They have highchairs and there is one step down if you want to go out to the courtyard which is totally manageable with a pram. If it's a double pram it won't work as the hallway is narrow. There is a large toilet in the courtyard with a bench that would work as a change table.
Their coffee blend is custom roasted for them by Tobys Estate Coffee. They only use certified free range ham, chicken and eggs. There are lots Vegetarian and Vegan and gluten free options. I had the Salmon bruschetta which was delicious and really filling.
This is a great spot if you are visiting Glebe markets on a Saturday. There is 2 hour metered parking on Glebe Point Road.
