The Museum of Contemporary Art not only has some fantastic regular programs for kids.

On the edge of Sydney Harbour, overlooking the world-famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the Museum of Contemporary Art provides a treasure trove of art-inspired experiences and adventures for kids and their families.

Junior Art School

Discover the art of shadow play with Indonesian – Australian artist Jumaadi, push the boundaries of creative writing with writer Athena Cabot during Tale Spin and create a futuristic world in the Digital Studios with artist Stephanie Lade.

MCA has many recurring events families and kids.

Art Play - Explore an interactive artwork, have fun with fancy dress, sing songs, play some art games and get cosy in our story corner.

Art Safari - Introduce contemporary art to kids in this fun and dynamic workshop. Children and carers visit current exhibitions and learn about art together.

Art Baby - Interact with like minded parents and carers in special exhibitions tours followed by coffee in the MCA Cafe.

Sunday Family Fun Day (last Sunday of every month) - Celebrate creativity with the whole family. Pick up your Gallery Explorer and hunt for inspiration in MCA exhibitions. Back in the Creative Studios, get hands-on with an art making activity.

School Holiday Workshops ;- There are always plenty of creative workshops running during school holidays.

Free Children's Activity Pack ;- Pick up a Sketch or Kids Adventure Trail at the Information Desk on your way in. Kids love this free guide book designed just for them by contemporary artists. Follow them as they lead you around the gallery, drawing, writing, and learning interesting facts about the artists and artworks on exhibition.


The MCA Cafe on Level 4 boasts spectacular harbour views, site-specific art and a range of menu options suitable for children.

If you would like to enjoy a picnic, the MCA front lawn is a great spot to unroll a rug and enjoy a sandwich while taking advantage of the beautiful harbour views.

The Graze MCA restaurant offers a relaxed dining experience and a varied seasonal menu. Located on the Ground Floor with uninterrupted views overlooking Circular Quay.


The MCA is located on Circular Quay West, Sydney. It is easily accesible by public transport.

Prams and buggies are welcome throughout the galleries. Limited cloaking is available for folded prams, large or oversized bags, coats, and other items at the Information Desk on level 1 (subject to space availability).
Toilets are located on Level 1 behind the lifts and on Level 4 next to the lifts. A baby change table is also located in the accessible toilet located on Level 3, near the children's workshops
A water fountain is located near the main bathrooms on Level 1, behind the lifts
