Life with kids in Sydney City
A Sydney institution. Yum Cha at the Marigold is a must do.
This is one the most popular yum cha restaurants in all of Sydney, so get in early if you don’t want to queue. It can get a bit loud and chaotic when the lunch crowd start to arrive, so try and grab a table well away from the entrance. We didn’t and met lots of lovely folk waiting in line standing next to our table to be seated!
Best thing about yum cha is the variety. There is honestly something here to feed any appetite, diet-restriction or, in the case of my kids, fussy-food disorder.
For the adults, we always go straight for the steamed dumplings. They do outrageously good vegetable options like the snow pea and chive and the ever -favourite prawn dumplings can’t be missed. Husband always orders the pork at any yum cha sitting. Theirs are good and worth the chew-feast it takes to get through them.
For the kids, we couldn’t go past the standards – spring rolls, pork buns and an overflowing plate of tasty noodles. Bo also happily entertained the crowd of waiting patrons by wearing a bamboo steamer on his head.
We finished off with a plate of yummy mango pancakes and custard tarts.
Everything came out nice and quick. Always a bonus when eating out with a 15 month old.
