This iconic $40 million facility, housed in a distinctive wave-form building, was named in honour of five times Gold Medal winning champion Ian Thorpe.
The centre offers a range of health and aquatic programs and services to cater for the diverse ages, interests and abilities of it's surrounding communities. Our services include swimming lessons, personal training, group fitness, recreational swimming, squad training and school programs. The Ian Thorpe Aquatic and Fitness Centre is a fully accessible facility.
Swimming Lessons - Infants Program Introduce your little one to the water in the safe surrounds of a Mum's, Dad's & Bub's class. Available to babies as young as six months, this class is ideal for any parent who wants their baby or toddler to learn to swim early and gain water safety skills for life. The structured 30 minute classes are taught in the Program pool and participants are grouped according to age. An introductory dry session is offered to new parents prior to the child's first lesson. This complimentary induction is free of charge and can be booked over the phone or in person.
Swim Holiday Intensive Program - These are ran during the school holidays
Teen Gym is an after school program that caters for teens aged 12-15 years offering age appropraite exercise programs run by qualified fitness instructors. This fun and exciting program improves strength, fitness, general health and well being. Teen Gym will also help develop positive exercise habits for life, as well as helping young people grow in confidence and self-esteem.
When you join Ian Thorpe Aquatic and Fitness Centre, your membership also gives you access to Cook+Phillip Aquatic and Fitness Centre. Both located in the CBD vicinity.
Main entry is on street level; accessible from Harris St and via a lift from Pyrmont Bridge Rd.
