Life with kids in Sydney City
Australian National Maritime Museum is a perfect day our for the family. They have a spectacular fleet of historic vessels, kids activities and fascinating exhibitions and so much more.
There is an exciting program of activities for the whole family with kid’s activities held on weekdays and weekends and during the school holidays. Kids and adults can also climb aboard our vessels including a real submarine and retired warship, and roam the museum’s expansive exhibition space.
MINI MARINERS (TUESDAYS AND ONE SATURDAY PER MONTH)
Mini Mariners is for 2–5 year olds (and their parents/carers) who love to sing and dance, get crafty, explore exhibitions and listen to stories. Expect lots of fun, a costumed guide and free play time too. The program changes monthly.
MINI MARINERS PLAY! A SPACE FOR UNDER 5S
The new interactive gallery space takes children aged 0 - 5 on an imaginative journey from the 'sandy seashore' to 'under the sea' with free-play games, activities and displays specially designed to stimulate their growing mind and inspire their curiosity.
FAMILY FUN SUNDAYS - SUNDAYS MONTHLY
Family Fun Days are special action-packed Sundays held every month, featuring lively performances, film screenings, character-led tours and face-painting. Get the kids thinking and playing at the same time!
FREE Kids App:
Lucy's Adventures, an app from the Australian National Maritime Museum, encourages children to explore our links with the sea through pictures, movies and puzzles. It's a great way for kids aged 3 to 7 to stay entertained, hone important skills, and learn what the museum does.
Eating: Buy healthy and delicious food at the museum’s café or takeaway kiosk or bring your own picnic lunch to eat on the museum’s harbour-side terrace.
Accessibility: The museum is accessible to strollers and prams via ramps and lifts but they are not allowed on the vessels. All backpacks and large bags must be stored at the museum cloakroom, located in our main foyer.
Parking: Visitors to the museum can park all day for $14 at Harbourside Secure Parking, located at 100 Murray Street, Pyrmont. Remember to get your parking ticket stamped at the museum reception
