Life with kids in Sydney City
The Annandale Hotel has a great courtyard restaurant; a perfect spot for lunch or weekend breakfasts with the family.
The Annandale Hotel has a lovely restaurant and a casual, relaxed vibe. It’s divided into a few different seating areas which you can access from the front of the Hotel on Parramatta Road through the bar or access the restaurant directly from Nelson Street. There is seating on the pavement on Nelson St, the main area with louvre ceiling, a cosy space beside the bar and a lovely sunny courtyard. The courtyard is fully enclosed and has umbrellas for shade and is a great spot to set up with the kids. Old weathered windows and doors decorate the walls of the restaurant and courtyard.
We were aiming to get there for the breakfast menu that runs until 12pm at the weekend. I had a hankering for the Hash Brown Bucket with bacon and chilli cheese ($7), French Toasties or Hot Cake and Waffles. Not the healthiest option but it has its place. If you are looking for healthy there is plenty for you too. Unfortunately, we just didn’t have nap time cooperation from our little man and got there too late.
We ordered off the lunch menu. There are also a few items off the breakfast menu that run all day like the Big Breakfast.
The Kids menu has 4 options ($10) which come with a soft drink and kids ice cream. There are also plenty of items off the main menu that would work too, like the grilled cheese toasties.I ordered the Fremantle Octopus Salad, which was very different; tasty, lovely and light. Hubby ordered the beef burger which he loved. We tried out a few extras; a Pork Bun, Short Rib Empanada and a Roasted Duck Yorkie which were delicious! We had no room for desert but the deserts we spotted looked divine.
We loved the seating areas and I wanted to sit in the pretty enclosed courtyard but it was a bit too hot on the day.
There is space for prams and plenty of highchairs.
Best parking is on Nelson Street.
We've been back for the weekend breakfast and it's ridiculously good! I had the Baked Eggs, a huge portion and very filling ($12) and my hubby had the Big Breakfast ($14) which lives up to it's name. We shared the Bucket of Chilli Cheese and Bacon Hash Browns. They were so damn good but quite heavy and meant for sharing.
Chester Street Playground is only 8 minutes walk away
