Life with kids in Sydney City
Planning your school holiday adventures with the kids? There are plenty of great apps out there to help make your journey smooth and hassle free.
Here are my top six for planning school holiday fun!!!
1. TripView Lite
As us Sydney-siders know well, public transport whilst an excellent resource, issn't always the most reliable. Published by Transport NSW, this nifty app allows you to plan your trip with real time data which tracks your transport of choice via GPS. Bus, train, ferries and light rail are all covered. The app also includes:
- Trackwork and service interruption information
- Real-time delay information and vehicle map
- Interactive maps (create your trip by clicking on your station/stop)
- Multi-modal trip editor (customise exact change locations / lines)
2. Hey You
Never stand in line again. Hey You by Beat the Q allows you to order and pay for food at participating restaurants and cafes before you even arrive.
3. Sydney Culture Walk
Created by the City of Sydney Council this wonderful app features curated walks and fascinating works from Sydney's history and public art collection.
It’s a great way to discover the city on foot - discover hidden laneways and new neighbourhoods while learning about Sydney's fascinating history and the stories behind the city's most loved public artworks.
4. Cheap Parking
Apparently this one’s been a top 10 navigation app in the iOS App store for the past 3 years. And I can see why. Simply enter the address of where you are going and the time you will require parking and the app gives you a map with cheap parking options ranked either by costs or by distance. I use this one a lot!
5. Sydney Food Trucks
Food trucks are a growing phenomena in Sydney. They are a great way to eat on the run and generally in picturesque and convenient locations across the city including The Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and the Rocks.
The Official Sydney Food Truck app helps you locate gourmet Sydney food trucks in real time – night and day. Some of our favourite food trucks are tracked such as Eat Art Truck, Urban Pasta and Let’s Do Yum Cha.
Never get stuck in bad weather again. There are a heap of great weather apps out there, Weatherzone just happens to be the one that works for me. Its radar feed is straight from the Bureau of Meteorology (the BOM). The app also contains current and exact temperatures based on your location and forecasts by the hour up to 48 hours in advance.
