Places to eat in Sydney City with a play area

Andi Dyson

Taking the kids out for a decent meal needn't be a stress. There are some fabulous eateries around the City which also have a play area to keep the little ones entertained and happy. Check out our pick of the best.

Bitton, Alexandria

This has consistently been one of our favourite spots to take the kids. Not only is the food and coffee a-mazing, they also have the coolest playroom for the kids. Double bonus. Erskineville Oval is just across the road.

Two Tales, Alexandria

These relative newbies on the block certainly know what they are doing. Their play area has something for all sized kids. Bounces for babies, trucks and toys for the bigger kids and an awesome book collection for the even bigger. Also opposite is Alexandria Park which has two enclosed playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts and it's just down the road from Alexandria Park Community Centre and it's awesome playgroups.

1989 Cafe, Newtown

This rad and totally gnarly eatery not only has arcade games to entertain the kids and kids at heart, they have a small break-out area with games and a TV with a VHS player (yes, a real one) playing movies and shows for the little ones to enjoy.

Camperdown Commons, Camperdown

Camperdown Commons not only has a huge enclosed outdoor space for the kids to run amok, it also has one of the best play areas I've ever seen. It's like a fairy world with cool little nooks, things to climb and discover. A real treat for the whole family. Oh, and they have chickens too!

The North Annandale Hotel

With indoor and outdoor eating options, with an extensive kids menu and a brand new indoor play room, the North Annandale is the areas new hot spot for parents. Boasting a good sized room, with comfy lounges and play equipment, your lunch or dinner will be relaxed and fun.

In the Annex, Glebe

Yummy food and a quirky play area for kids makes In the Annex an eating experience not to miss. Their food consistently gets raves and throw in a 'blackboard' fridge with coloured chalk and literally a suitcase full of toys and you have a family winner here.

Waterworks Hotel, Botany

If you're craving some good old pub grub and a relaxed atmosphere, Waterworks is a fab option. The food is reasonable priced, comes out quick and is pretty darn tasty. Kids will have a blast filling the giant whiteboards with their creations.
