Fenced-off or enclosed playgrounds offer a safe and relaxed option for parents with flighty little ones. Here's our pick of the best around Sydney City.

Cook and Phillip Park Playground, CBD

Smack bang in the heart of the City and right near attractions like the Australian Museum, the Hyde Park Barracks and the Art Gallery of NSW. This great enclosed park is also good for bigger kids over 5 and of course safe for the little ones. Check out the fabulous Bodhi Restaurant while you're there for a truly unique yum cha experience or pair it with a swim at the Cook + Philip Aquatic Centre.

McKell Playground, Alexandria Park

Located in Alexandria Park are two enclosed play areas. One for little kids and one for the slightly older. There is a heap to do in this park besides the playgrounds including a gated oval, tennis and basketball courts. The wonderful Two Tales Cafe is right across the road and boasts it's on kids play area.

Located in Redfern, this lovely little playground has just undergone a make-over in 2016 and is winning awards for its impressive design.

On Queen St in Beaconsfield, this lovely neighbourhood playground is fully fenced, fully shaded by sails and has a great BBQ and seating area. Food options nearby include Grandma's Little Bakery and Purple Moose.

The popular pocket park on Franklyn St in Glebe features grass lawns, shrubs and trees, a barbecue and a children’s playground and it is totally fenced so it's great for the little ones.
